The Malaysian Chronicle of Junks by Fernandez and Lee
Fernandez and Lee have succeeded in flouting every rule in every journalists’ handbook, making statements that have no substance or whatsoever, or simply worded, where is the head and the tail of the issue they are arguing about?
None of their statements are attributed and none of the assertions are from proven sources. The sentiments expressed only reflect coffee-shop talk and not reality as most Malaysians know it. Their primary message seems to be that Indians must reject BN -sponsored or PR – sponsored racism and concentrate on getting an honest and independent Indian candidate into Parliament to protect the interests of the community.
Isn’t this a racist call? As supposed seasoned journalists, they should know that racism only begets racism. On the other hand, the kind of policies pursued by parties like MIC in the BN coalition over the years has consistently been multi-racial in nature, content and outlook.
That is the only way forward for Malaysia, to be multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious. This has been our strength the past 55 years and it will continue to be the web that will hold this nation together in good stead in the years ahead.
If Fernandez and Lee did some journalistic research, it would have been obvious to them how much Indians, Chinese, and the natives of Sabah and Sarawak have benefited along with their Malay brethren since our independence.
It also would have been obvious to them that the BN government has always pursued inclusive policies that took into account the different needs of the different communities. Of course, there were some lapses and oversights, but since the last general election in 2008 and change in the premiership, there has been much correction and transformation under Najib Tun Razak to make Malaysia a better place for all Malaysians, including the Malaysian Indians, to live.
